Flat Glass Drilling Machine: Working Principle and Operating Steps
Working Principle
The flat glass drilling machine adopts diamond drill bits as the cutting tool. Given the brittle nature of glass material, the machine processes glass through high-speed friction and grinding instead of mechanical impact. The diamond particles on the drill bit surface wear away the glass material gradually during high-speed rotation. Meanwhile, continuous cooling water is supplied to dissipate friction heat, cool down the drill bit and glass workpiece, and flush away glass dust residues. This processing method effectively prevents glass cracking, chipping and thermal damage caused by excessive heat, ensuring smooth and precise drilling.
Detailed Operating Steps
1. Glass Placement and Fixation
Place the flat glass stably on the machine worktable and adjust the position according to the pre-marked drilling position. Fasten the glass firmly with professional clamping devices to avoid displacement and vibration during drilling. Rubber gaskets are padded between the glass and the worktable to protect the glass surface from scratches and buffer vibration.
2. Equipment Parameter Adjustment
Select and install a matching diamond drill bit according to the required hole diameter. Set reasonable operating parameters including spindle rotation speed, drill bit feeding speed and cooling water flow based on the glass thickness, material hardness and drilling aperture size to adapt to different processing requirements.
3. Positioning and Initial Spot Drilling
Move the drill bit to the center of the marked drilling position. Start the equipment for low-speed operation, and let the drill bit gently contact the glass surface for initial spot drilling. This step fixes the drilling position effectively, prevents the drill bit from slipping and offsetting, and lays a foundation for accurate formal drilling.
4. Formal Drilling Processing
Turn on the cooling water circulation system to ensure stable water supply to the drilling area. The drill bit rotates at high speed and feeds downward slowly, grinding the glass layer by layer through diamond friction. The circulating water continuously cools the processing area and washes off glass debris. When the drill bit is about to penetrate the glass, reduce the feeding speed properly to avoid edge chipping on the glass backside.
5. Drill Bit Retraction and Reset
After the drill bit completely penetrates the glass and finishes hole processing, keep the cooling water running for a short time to clean residual debris. Then lift and retract the drill bit to the initial standby position, stop the spindle rotation, and turn off the cooling water system.
6. Workpiece Unloading and Inspection
Release the clamping devices and take out the processed glass sheet. Conduct a comprehensive inspection on the drilled holes to check for cracks, chipping, size deviation and other defects. Clean up glass dust and debris on the glass surface and worktable to keep the equipment clean for subsequent processing.
